Sue’s helpful hints on how to shovel properly and prevent injury.
1. If you can get a younger family member or neighbor to do the job- do it!
2. Do 5 minutes of warm up exercises for your back, neck and wrists.
3. Plan on taking frequent breaks and hydrate.
4. Keep “your Box” square (your abdominal area between your rib cage and pelvic bones)
5. Remember the 6 B’s (Bum, Belly, Box, shoulderBlades, Bobblehead, Breathe)
6. Stretch afterward, placing hands on low back and lean backwards.
